Salt and Light 2008
We are happy and grateful to present to all of you what the Lord did during Salt and Light project that took place in Hunedoara, 21 – 27 July 2008.
We had the privilege to host 5 teams from abroad as follows: Fort Lauderdale - US (16 persons), Indiana – US (8 persons), California – US (5 persons), Washington – US (7 persons), Switzerland (20 persons). We also had teams from Romania, especially from Oltenia, Timisoara and Bucuresti. We have enjoyed the participation of many evangelical churches from Hunedoara.
We have started on Friday morning with evangelism training on two levels: children’s teachers and youth/adult. There were 38 adults trained, 41 kids’ teachers and 32 young people. That makes 111 people in all. The team from Fort Lauderdale came especially prepared to offer this training in evangelism which is called Evangelism Explosion, a ministry of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church.
There were 8 practical evangelism projects that addressed the people in the community through: sport, beauty and cosmetics, vacation bible school for kids, cleaning, sewing, street evangelism, dentist, and acts of kindness. Each of these practical evangelism projects were blessed both with volunteers but also with many people who attended.
- The sport project was run in two different locations, one in the morning and the other one in the evening. There were a lot of children and young people who attended and who also had a chance to hear the Gospel.
- Beauty and Cosmetics project was run at Bethlehem Christian Center during the afternoon and later on in the evening. Many women and young girls from the neighborhood came and they were also told about the beauty of a clean heart.
- Vacation Bible School was run in two locations, at the Centre in the mornings and at Maranatha Baptist Church in the afternoon. Hundreds of kids were presented the Good News of salvation.
- Clean City project took place in different locations and was ended in each evening with evangelistic public events.
- The sewing project was run at the Centre and there were many women and young girls who attended. Street evangelism project was spread all over to all the other projects but also on the streets and public parks and home visitation. More than one hundred persons were recorded to have prayed to accept Christ in their lives.
- The dentist project enjoyed the participation of very good dentists so that everyone who came was really happy for the treatment. They were also treated with the Gospel and many have enjoyed it too.
- The acts of kindness project reached the children from a Children’s Centre and the old people at an Olds’ People House. There was much joy and happiness both on visitors side but especially on those who were visited.
- At the end of the week, starting with Thursday evening there were four evangelistic events at Siderurgistul Hall which is the biggest hall in the city. We had good Christian music and evangelistic messages on each of the four evenings.
There were hundreds of people – kids, youth and adults, who have been presenting the Gospel both on a personal level but also in public places.
When we think at all of this we can only praise the Lord for all that He has done through us and through many of you who have believed in us and supported us. God bless and reward you and we are looking forward to working with you again.
