Family camp, in Hasdau 2006
Hasdau, August 5th-12th
When God first put on our hearts the idea of hosting a 'family camp' as part of
our Salt and Light Outreach, we didn't really know what the camp would look
like, or how it would go, but praise be to God that He knew! The Family Camp
went wonderfully and we really saw God working and providing for our spiritual
and material needs. It was a time of blessing for us all - leaders and
participants alike. The men and women were fed from the Word of God by sister
Gail Harris and brother Arthur Foster, looking at what it means to be a 'Women
of Worth', and for the men, the need for intimacy with God. We were also blessed
to have with us the Luse family who are American missionaries here in Romania,
and a team from Manor Park, London who were all involved in sharing the Word and
love of God to the participants. The Manor Park team did a few sessions with the
teenagers, which perfectly fulfilled that need, and the children had the chance
to hear about the wonderful work of God through the life and ministry of Neemiah.
The camp was attended by several families from the Center
area with whom we work in the Family Fellowship Project and some families of
children from Bread of Life Project (daily lunch and homework support for
disadvantaged children). In total, we had 95 leaders and participants!
For most of the parents this was the first time since they got married that they
had a holiday with their families and were able to spend quality time together.
The majority of families who came to the came were BIG
families, with about 7 or 8 members. For one of the largest families in
attendance (10 members), the time at camp gave the parents their first week of
relaxation in 16 years !!!This meant that for the first time in 16 years, the
mother had some time out from cooking !!
We're sure that you can imagine what a blessing it was for each of these
families to enjoy time together and to also be delighted and encouraged by the
Word of God.
